Yotsuba says buy me already

yotsuba_800

This one wraps up our batch of cuties for the day.
Yotsuba is a lively 5 year old. I think she’s 5.  I may be wrong.
Anyways, because she’s young she’s clueless when it comes to what things do, what things are called, etcetra.
Every story is a big adventure about finding out about life and she goes about it in a very vigorous, bold way with hilarious results. If you haven’t read Yotsuba - the manga story yet, you’re missing out on something.
Some people think ‘I dunno, it looks a bit simple’. Then they start reading a few chapters and next minute they’re complete converts. Other people like myself are able to sum things up quicker and I knew straight away that this was a manga worth reading.

Well here’s the figure from the story and it’s pretty much as accurate as you can get, with a selection of faces to express fierce anger, total surprise, goofy normal, or happy smiley. She comes with a non-melting icecream, a bug net, two bags, but I just prefer the normal hands that she can wave about and pat things.

Although  she is articulated, it isn’t total. Her legs don’t go out straight so if she’s sitting down her legs will be far apart, which makes it impossible for her to sit on the edge of something. Not too good.
Thats the only gripe.
Real nice, real cute and people make her do all sorts of things on Flickr so go there and check her out ..

Toyslogic were the only place that had her, by the time I found out about the manga story. Shows how backward I can be sometimes. But only sometimes ;)

If they don’t have her then e-bay is your best bet.

Fate Stay Night’s Saber by Gift

May 18th, 2009

gift_saber_800

This is Gift’s first figure and it’s a stunner.
The base is mirror like except mine came with a few scratches, not deep, sort of surface like as if they were meant to be there. Could have done a better job with that. The dress is translucent and the blue part is a dark shiney blue with a metallic sparkle in places. The shield type thing on her left arm is a gun metal while the rest of the armour is more steel colored. She has shoulder pads. The figure itself gets 10/10 from me, except for the face. It’s a little on the small side and the look is rather strange, plus the nose creates a shadow so it looks as if she has a moustache - no joke. The fringe of her hair creates a distracting shadow. When you add this all up - that’s 4.5 out of 10 for the face, with the pass mark being 7. Which is probably why I have decided to make my own face for Gift’s Saber out of resin. This is one of next month’s tasks, and will appear on this blog in due course if all things proceed as planned, all being well.
If you have a Gift Saber and like what I produce you’re welcome to contact me for a replacement head.

Flickr has more ..

She’s worth buying even though the face is so so. The rest of the figure more than makes up for it.

PSE Ribbon Style

May 18th, 2009

ribbon_style_01_800

These PSE figures have interesting names. Not.
This is cutie no. 2. A gothic maid of sorts.
Her dress is amazing! The folds are very realistic and the texture is spot-on.
I liked her the moment I saw her and she’s a very good addition to an otherwise boring room.

PSE Ultra Jump

May 18th, 2009

ultra_jump_800

When you’re jumping around you need to wear Addidas, but when you’re ultra jumping around you need cybernetic addons to keep track of which planet you’re on. This Ultra Jump which has such a secret identity that she’s nameless has the gear for the job.You will notice that that’s no ordinary bandaid that she’s wearing around her head - that happens to be an interstellar frequency receiver which explains the loops (not shown).

This figure is extremely well modelled and happens to be my favourite. She has a “I need a hug’ look.
The details are well painted. A recommended purchase if you can find her still in stock anywhere.

More photos?
Certainly.

Kotobukiya’s Kureha from Shining Wind

May 18th, 2009

kureha_01_800
Clicking on me will make me big.

When I bought Kureha I had no idea who she was. Her face is nice and the pose is eye catching.
I then found out via Youtube that Shining Wind is an RPG game where you direct little chibi characters through fantasy themed scenes encountering groups of monsters and other beings.

This figure is from this RPG game and is very nicely crafted, so nice that due to demand they have re-released it.

What’s going for it.
Kotobukiya produce quality figures with nice details and accurate modelling.
The face is cute.
There is nice consistent flowing movement.
The yellow will brighten up your room, unless of course your room is yellow to begin with, in which case it will blend in.
She has other amazing characteristics too. Check the photos out and see for yourself.

1. Reviewing figures
2. Reviewing manga
3. Reviewing Anime
4. Reviewing sites that review the above or shops that sell the above
This is all kind of  standard, but here’s the interesting bit
5. Photos of my homemade figures will be posted on this blog
6. This includes homemade dollfies *-*
7. Not just the finished product will be posted but also the work in progress
8. Excerpts from my upcoming graphic novel will be posted here as well
9. And if I feel like it I’ll post some other wierd and wonderful things

My graphic novel is called ‘Alpha Z’ for now.
On the date of publication the real title will be revealed.

Time to do that CTRL-D trick, you don’t want to miss out  on anything this important. ;P
